New Moon in Cancer - July 22nd 2009 - Total Solar Eclipse

Today is not only a new moon, and a total solar eclipse, but the last day of the tzolkin (the 260 day cycle of the mayan 'calendar'), so a new cycle begins tomorrow - just as the sun goes into leo. So quite a pivotal day then really! It certainly has been for me, thanks to good friends with new ideas; just what I needed right now and very appropriate for a new moon....so again I joyfully play with what the essences have to say about this cycle! The overlighting energy of it seems to say "Trust the Journey, and remember to look to the bigger picture for 'what's going on'".

Still getting an energy around the number 5 - freedom, empowerment and change (yay!) which seems to clearly emphasise that in a big time of collective change, it's still a matter of personal choice what you perceive to be taking place and what you will do with it.

Comfrey flower essence: "Soul"

There is a strong 'past life' influence with the comfrey flower essence...much of whatever is coming up for us has roots in these other lifetimes, so now can be a powerful time to work with this in whatever way feels appropriate for you. Of course you'll need to have trust that whatever information you need is available to you, and that you're wise and clever enough to receive it! Paying attention to dreams can bring through information, or simply asking what your Higher Self would like you to know. Answers can come as immediate insights, or follow in ways that are meaningful to you - remember Spirit knows you well, and can bring you stuff that wouldn't mean a lot to anyone but you. So if you're asking, be open to messages coming in many ways. This is not only about 'healing' - as we are enabled now, more than ever before, to bring through strengths and knowledge from other lifetimes. Comfrey essence is also about healing patterns formed in this lifetime, from early life experiences/things we were taught that have created unconscious fears and beliefs that keep playing out. We don't need to re-play things again that come up, just observe, and let it go...

Te Waikoropupu - "The WellSpring"

This essence was a part of the last new moon reading also, which feels very appropriate for 2 new moons in the watery sign of cancer. Earlier as I looked back over that reading I really felt a connection to the 'abundance' of this essence, and I realise that collectively a lot of energy is focused right now on 'lack of'. I have had my own moments of that too despite being determined to rise above it. So I think it's important to focus on gratitude that our needs are being met, for that truly is abundance, and to really appreciate richness of friends, ideas, beauty around us, family, and all those good things in life that are free! Today I also needed to re-think what I perceive to be 'flow'. As I was most joyously reminded, a time of stillness can be perfect flow! As always, the wellspring is to be found within - connection with source/spirit is a personal experience found by each in their own way.

Star - "The Navigator"

Also present last new moon's reading, the navigator essence is a reminder to trust the journey! We know where we are headed, we have an inner knowing of how to get there, and we are on the right path, even if land cannot be seen at this moment...it's also about finding your voice, letting yourself be an open channel for the wisdom of the higher self.

Whale Bone - "Record Keeper"

Some good advice from the great navigators themselves! "In a time of great change, which has profound affects on your bodies and electromagnetic fields, and that releases much energy around your 'old stories' (personal and group), use the power of conscious breath to balance yourself...play with extending this into making sound, to release the energy of old but also to create a new feeling of wellbeing within you." There's also a feeling of reconnecting with an innate sense of natural timing.

I had to go outside and be in the night for a moment, and as I did so I had a strong feeling of elder energy, and in particular of the Waitaha, the ancients of New Zealand, and I had this realisation that they are all looking to the stars for the signposts of where we are in our human story. A very beautiful and profound moment that is difficult to express in words - I can only suggest you find a moment to stargaze to feel it! The Waitaha too are record keepers, the holders of the histories, and of prophecy relevant to this month. So much of this old wisdom, held for so long, is now coming into our awareness again. In fact, if you believe your soul has had many journeys on this planet, then we are the ancients, and we've left ourselves many clues about navigating our way through this time; 'The shift of the Ages'. It gives me a sense that there is a pattern to it all that is comforting. Again; we know where we are heading, we know how to get there even if it is not 'visible' yet... and it is most often not the 'savvy conscious mind/personality' that holds this wisdom. It's the sense of 'natural timing' that the whales instinctively follow - it's like they are showing me 'great currents in the sky' - there are alignments that occur, that enable change and expansion to happen, just as simply as the seasons turn, letting them know when the time has come to migrate to different waters.

When I went outside again to complete my ceremony with the actual essences (I realise I will probably need to fill you in a little more about this process later!) I felt that 'pivotal' is a word that applies not only to the day but to the whole cycle in many ways, that it will be potent with beginnings and endings, with responsibility to choose your perspective, and with transformation/movement of energy. It would seem that it will be much easier if we can look to the bigger picture for 'what's going on', rather than getting stuck in our own little orbits, while also honouring and trusting in our own journeys. So I think I will now take my own advice, and let dreams complete any information that needs to be expressed...

Namaste!
